As a young man, the Lord gave him a burden to see the city of Las Vegas reached with the gospel of Jesus Christ. He attended Bible College in Lynchburg, VA where he met his wife Anna. Upon graduation they moved back to Las Vegas to start a church. On September 11, 1977 Liberty Baptist Church opened it’s doors to 68 people.

Pastor Matt is the oldest son of Pastor Teis. Since graduating from Pensacola Christian College in 2000, he has led the youth ministry, young adult ministry, and outreach programs of Liberty Baptist Church. He and his wife Breanna were married in June 2002. They have three daughters, Ashlynne, Bethany, Charlotte, and one son, Luke. Pastor Matt currently serves as the Executive Pastor at Liberty Baptist Church.
Pastor Shorer was born in Milwaukee, WI. He received a bachelor’s degree of fine arts in instrumental music, it was during this time that he met his wife Jan. After graduation they moved to Overton, NV to begin a teaching career. After nine years of teaching he accepted the invitation to serve as principal of Liberty Baptist Academy. In 2004, he received a Masters degree in educational administration from Pensacola Christian College. The Shorers have two children Megan and Caleb.
Pastor Neal Berkey was raised in Jacksonville, Florida where he and his family faithfully attended Calvary Baptist Church. The Lord directed Pastor Neal to complete his bachelor’s degree at West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster California. Upon graduation in 2008, he and his wife moved to Las Vegas to serve at Liberty Baptist Church. In 2018 Pastor Neal completed his masters degree in pastoral counseling from Liberty University. Pastor Neal, his wife Charity, their sons Tre and Lincoln, as well as daughters, Cherish and Felicity, all reside in North Las Vegas.
Pastor Ruiz was born in Sonora, México. He is married to Lupita Ruiz. They both have been blessed with three wonderful children Nayeli, Erubiel and Noemí. Pastor Ruiz felt the call to serve in the ministry right after receiving Christ in his youth. A couple of years prior to his graduation from Tucson Baptist Bible Institute, he made the decision to leave the business world to serve in ministry full time as the Spanish Assistant Pastor. After serving at Tucson Baptist Church for over four years the Lord opened up the opportunity to serve the Hispanic community in Las Vegas. Following the lead of the Holy Spirit, he decided to move from Arizona to be the Spanish Ministry Director at Liberty Baptist Church where he has been serving since January 1, 2020.
Ministry / Youth Director
Brad Halverson was born in Fairmont, MN, and moved to Las Vegas in 1994. He and his wife, Grace, were married in 1998 and both have served over twenty-five years in youth ministry in the valley. Since joining Liberty in 2005, they have volunteered faithfully and joined as full time staff in 2020. The Halversons have two daughters, Jade and Jalia.
Children’s Ministry Director
Michael was born and raised in Macon, GA. He went to college in Pensacola, Florida, and graduated with a youth ministry degree. There, he met and married his wife Amber. They lived in Pensacola while he completed his Master of Divinity. In 2017, they moved to Lakeland, Florida, to serve at Parkway Baptist Church. Michael served as both the Children’s Director and the Finance Director of the church and school. In the summer of 2022, their family moved to Las Vegas to join Liberty Baptist Church full-time. Michael and Amber have a daughter, Annaleigh, and two sons, Brooks and Jude.
Ashlee Redden was born and raised in the Las Vegas Valley. She has been a member of Liberty Baptist Church since 2014. Since joining Liberty, she has served faithfully in various capacities in the children’s ministry. Ashlee served as the Chief Administrative Officer of a local nonprofit before the Lord opened the door to serve full-time at Liberty Baptist Church in 2022.
Grace grew up here at Liberty Baptist Church. She graduated from the University of Las Vegas, Nevada with a degree in film in 2017. She volunteered in the media ministry editing radio sermons for KVXL 101.1FM and the church’s livestream. In 2021, she joined Liberty’s staff full-time.
